John Terry ‘hopes’ Chelsea wing-back Reece James would break his club record
According to Chelsea legend John Terry on Twitter, (h/t Express), Blues wing-back, Reece James has been backed to break Terry long-standing record of highest goals for the club as a defender.
The Chelsea wing-back has become the most lethal defender this season in front of the goal. This season he has four goals that separate him from his peers. The full-back has averaged one goal in every 188 minutes so far this season.
The 21-years-old player’s goalscoring abilities seem to take the spotlight, but he has also provided four assists that add to his attacking nature.
His goalscoring run this season has obliged club legend John Terry to respond. The former Blues captain holds the record for scoring the most number of goals as a defender. Over a long 20 year career, he has scored 41 goals in 492 Premier League games. Although most of them came from headers, his number stands top on the league’s 29-year history.
After joining Twitter earlier this week, he agreed that Reece James could surpass him on the list of Chelsea goalscorers.
He posted a picture of the stats and initiated the discussion. In response to the photo tweet, A Twitter user wrote that he believes Reece James will be the one to break the long-standing record.
In reply, the former Chelsea defender gave the verdict that the 21-year-oldhas what it takes to achieve the humongous task.
