Talking to Coral (h/t The Sun), former Chelsea player Joe Cole thinks that Blues will win the Premier League title this season ahead of both Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Blues are currently top of the Premier League table after 11 games as they lead Citizens and The Reds by three and four points respectively. They have 26 points from 11 games.
Cole, who won three Premier League titles with west Londoners has stated that Thomas Tuchel men are resolute in the back and scoring against them for any team will be very tough.
“I am throwing it out there now, Chelsea will win the league. I watch them every game, a lot of the time live working as a pundit at the games, and they are just so strong.”
Chelsea have the best defensive record in the league as they have just conceded just four goals in 11 matches so far and out of those four goals, two have come from the penalty spot. Cole believes it could make a difference this season.
“They are hardly conceding any goals and the defence is the most important part of the team for winning a title, they have the strongest defence by miles.”
West Londoners missed a trick last weekend against Burnley as they drew 1-1 despite having 25 shots in the match. That was mainly due to the lack of strikers in the team as Tuchel is without Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner at the moment.
Blues next take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on November 20. Tuchel will be delighted by the fact that he might welcome striker Romelu Lukaku back from injury by the time.
Another player who adds to firepower upfront is US winger Christian Pulisic, who returned to action for Chelsea last week after almost three months out because of the injury.
Chelsea are currently having the initiative in the title race and it remains to be seen just how far they can go with it. Given Tuichel’s track record, it will not be a surprise if they make Cole’s prediction come true.
