According to Football.london, Joao Santos stated he’s not ruling out a possibility for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho to return to Napoli.
Jorginho has experienced spectacular growth with Chelsea in the past few seasons and has become one of the most important and senior players in the team. The defensive midfielder also captained the Blues on a few occasions this season.
The 29-years-old midfielder was the key man in midfield under Maurizio Sarri. But even after Sarri left the club, his performance hasn’t dropped under recent coaches. A dependable penalty taker from the spot for the Blues, Jorginho’s role is much more than just sticking the ball in the net from 12 yards out. The deep-lying playmaker is a calm presence in midfield and along with N’Golo Kante, forms a formidable duo at Stamford Bridge.
Under Thomas Tuchel’s supervision, the Chelsea team won the UEFA Champions League 2020/21, and the Italian player had a significant role in it.
The former Napoli player has also been nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or award and is one of the frontrunners after his heroics in the Euro 2020 for Italy.
Even though he had enormous growth and a bag full of achievements at Stamford Bridge, there is a possibility he could return to his old team. As Jorginho’s contract term is closing to the final years, Joao Santos, the agent of Jorginho, isn’t ruling out that possibility.
The agent has accepted that Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has given the green light for a renewal deal, but he’s still fully not committed to the agreement- with a return to his ex-club, Napoli, still a possibility.
“Never say never [on possible Napoli return], because the market is very dynamic. Marina Granovskaia, however, has already let us know that she wants to renew his contract, so we’ll see what happens.”
Jorgiho’s absence would hurt the Blues a lot, and the Chelsea board wouldn’t want that. The positive approach from Marina Granovskaia has shown the intent and urgency.
This season the West London team has a dominating start and would hope to capitalize on their chances to win the Premier League. To achieve such a feat, they would require their prime central midfielder.
