Southgate reacts as Chelsea winger snubs U21 international call-up in favour of impressing Tuchel

Hudson-Odoi rejects England U-21 call-up again to continue training with Chelsea

According to Football.London, Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi has rejected Lee Carsley’s offer for the third time in order to continue training at Chelsea. Such behaviour from the Englishman has irritated the current England manager Gareth Southgate.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been in fine form under Thomas Tuchel. It seems that the German manager has faith in the youngster’s abilities to deliver on the big stage.

Callum Hudson-Odoi wants to impress Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel with his England snub.

This season the 20-year-old player earned seven playing XI startups under the German manager across all competitions. He has been fine form in the last few matches, and he provided one assist in the last Champions League game against Malmö FF this Tuesday.

The English player wants to continue such performances. In an attempt to impress his club manager, he has decided to turn down offers to represent the national team.

Previously, the former Paris Saint-German manager emphasized that Hudson-Odoi needs to work harder to earn more minutes.

“Once you do this, you will have more minutes. Once you have more minutes, you will maybe look back and say: That was a turning point.”

Callum Hudson-Odoi could be in the starting XI for Chelsea against Burnley.

Apparently, the Champions League manager has appreciated his commitment towards the Chelsea team. But this behaviour hasn’t been appreciated by the England camp.

In a press conference yesterday Thomas Tuchel showed his support towards Hudson-Odoi and praised him for his row of incredible performances.

“He is clearly in the right way, you can see in the matches and how effective he is. I feel him very focused. He waited a long time for these chances and now they’ve arrived.”

The England senior team manager Gareth Southgate responded to Hudson-Odoi’s national team snub and made his stand clear as he thinks that Hudson-Odoi is making a mistake by rejecting the offer.

“He feels he would be best served staking a case for the team with Chelsea. I think he has a better chance of impressing us if he is with the Under-21s as well, frankly.”

Young youth players like Hudson-Odoi was the pillar of success in Frank Lampard’s team. But since the club legend’s departure, new signings have plastered their place in the current squad. But the injury to Cristian Pulisic has created an excellent opportunity for Hudson-Odoi to show his abilities and claim his spot on Thomas Tuchel’s team.
