Transfer News: Borussia Dortmund want Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech on loan in January
According to German outlet BILD (h/t Football.London), Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund may become active in the winter transfer market as they are looking to sign Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech.
Ziyech arrived at Stamford Bridge from Ajax last summer but has made it tough to be a regular under coach Thomas Tuchel. Inconsistent form and injury struggle have kept him in and out from the playing XI.
Despite the winner against Malmo in the Champions League match, he was replaced by Ross Barkley in the starting XI against Burnley last weekend where the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at home.
Dortmund, who lost Jadon Sancho in the summer to Manchester United, might want to bring the Moroccan international to their squad to boost their attacking play.
The winger’s contract with Chelsea is until 2025 but the player is unhappy at the club and wants to leave, perhaps for a team where he can be a regular starter. And German giants are hoping to snatch him on loan in the January transfer market.
Despite the speculations, Thomas Tuchel has stated last month that he is an important player and expects the winger to improve.
“He can still be more clinical and maybe grow more into the rhythm but I think his shoulder injury hurt him a lot.”
“Even if he pushed hard to come back early, he is still not 100 percent free as he should be but I am happy because a goal like this will help. I am happy for him.”
Chelsea would be hoping that the 28-year-old winger stays put as they are aiming to win the Premier League crown this term and depth in the squad will be an important part of that.

It’s a long season ahead with plenty of big games to play, so if Ziyech could find his rhythm and flow, that would indeed be great news for the west Londoners because no one needs a reminder of the former Ajax winger’s quality.
