Report: Chelsea fans subjected to a rude shock following Stamford Bridge upgrades

Unsold tickets costing Chelsea £154,254 in revenue per game at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea to triple prices for season ticket holders following new upgrades to Stamford Bridge

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have informed fans that the price for season tickets will increase after new upgrades were installed at Stamford Bridge. The West Stand was renovated ahead of this season to raise the standard of facilities available at the stadium.

The price for tier-one season tickets will rise from £1,250 to £3,900 per seat next year. New facilities like bars, TV screens, food outlets, better wifi and new padded seats have been installed in Westview, the rebranded name of West Stand upper tier.

Some other sections will also see a price hike but with the added benefit of more games available in their package. This change would see the Blues hold the title for the most expensive seats in the Premier League next season.

Simon Hunter, head of venue and hospitality, wrote in a statement explaining the upgrades to the stand. He also detailed how the changes were communicated to give ample time for the supporters to assess their options.

“When the changes were communicated before the start of this season, we explained that a new pricing model for Westview would be implemented for the 2022/23 season.”

He went on to add that the club has informed their fans well in advance so that they can take time to review their options. Just what the majority of them choose to do remain to be seen.

“To give you plenty of time to review your options, we are now writing to let you know how this pricing model will be structured.”

The fans can change seats should they can not accommodate the new changes made to the ticket prices. The club also stated that a group of supporters had been consulted before the changes were implemented.
