Transfer News: Chelsea to clash with Newcastle United for Adrien Rabiot of Juventus
According to Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are ready to battle Newcastle United for the services of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. However, the interest depends on the future of Saul Niguez at the club.
Rabiot will see his contract with Juve come to an end ahead of the next season and could make a move to Stamford Bridge should he decide to do so. However, he has been a regular for Bianconeri and has shown no signs of uncertainty surrounding the contract situation.
The Blues are looking at options in midfield and have decided to solve the Niguez dilemma. They supposedly want to cancel the underwhelming Spaniard’s loan deal with Atletico Madrid and send him back to the Wanda Metropolitano.
Thomas Tuchel’s side could be dealt a blow by the Frenchman since he has revealed in an interview that he sees himself at Turin. Speaking to TeleFoot (h/t Football.London), he said:
“I’m happy in Turin. I see my future at Juventus, of course!”
Things could change in the coming months as the football world is volatile. The Spaniard could find his feet during that period, or the Juve ace could decide to find a challenge elsewhere, which would open the door for the Premier League leaders to make their move.
Tuchel’s side is also looking at other options like Declan Rice and Aurelien Tchouameni to bolster their midfield. They are targets for the next summer since it would be tough to get them during a season.
Add to it the emergence of Newcastle United and the Blues have yet another to worry about when it comes to a bidding war.
