A View From The Bridge

“Feels fun”- Chelsea midfielder opens up on his new approach to the game

Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek in love with football once again

According to Metro, Ruben Loftus-Cheek said that he doesn’t have a fear of getting injured this season and has a free mentality to approach the game.

The Englishman is a Chelsea academy graduate and has been with the first team since 2014. But he hasn’t seen much action in these years, and he has only featured in 110 Premier League games across 12 seasons. The primary reason for this dilemma is his injury-prone body.

Loftus-Cheek struggled with injuries in the past few seasons.

The 25-year-old suffered several injuries throughout his career. He suggested in the press conference that he feared injuries in the 2018/19 season, which affected his playing style and confidence.

‘I was playing well under (Maurizio) Sarri, but I can’t say that I was confident in myself, in my body. I still had doubts; I still got injured a lot that season. I wasn’t complexity free mentally.”

But it seems this season he has regained his confidence and playing with a pressure-free mind. It shows on the field as Loftus-Cheek looks like a player reborn.

‘But now I can say that I am playing completely free mentally; there is no doubt in my body about getting injured.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek spent a few seasons on loan but that didn’t help also.

The love of the game!

With his injury fears behind him, Loftus-Cheek has once again started to enjoy football. It is an excellent sign for a player who appeared to have lost his way the last few years.

“I always had belief in myself and my quality on the ball, so going on the pitch to play now it’s so enjoyable; it just feels fun.”

Such confidence gives an edge over physicality and keeps a player mentally fit for the highest level. Because on the top-level players require the same amount of mental strength as physical. Ruben Loftus-Cheek being so confident about his abilities, seem to deliver consistent performances in the coming weeks.

Under Thomas Tuchel, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is looking to rejuvenate his career.

Chelsea have had their own share of injury problems this season. N’golo Kante and Mason Mount have missed games of late and it is imperative the Blues have a big squad to compensate for it.

With players like Loftus-Cheek pulling their weight, it could be a season to remember.
