Journo explains why Kante missed Malmo trip and if he will be fit for Burnley clash

Chelsea manager Graham Potter will not indulge in contract talks with N'Golo Kante.

N’Golo Kante to return from injury for Chelsea ahead of Burnley Clash

According to The Athletic journalist Simon Johnson, defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante is all set to return to the Chelsea squad for their Premier League clash against Burnley on Saturday.

The Blues are currently top of the Premier League table, three points ahead of Liverpool. Chelsea won their latest encounter against Malmo in the Champions League on Tuesday night without any help from their French enforcer in midfield.

Simon Johnson, on Twitter, confirmed that Kante did not travel with the Blues squad for their Champions League tie at Malmo due to ‘muscle tightness’ that he experienced during training.

Chelsea lost to Leicester City in the FA Cup final.
Kante missed Chelsea’s last match due to injury.

Ahead of kick-off, however, Tuchel also confirmed that the move was a precaution.

“We took the decision to build up N’Golo at home, so that he becomes a little bit more robust after several little injuries in the last weeks.”

Kante had his fair share of injuries during the last season as well but despite that, he was a very important part of the west Londoners’ successful campaign where they went on to win the Champions League after beating Manchester City in the final in May.

Kante has missed around 8 games so far this season because of groin injury and an unfortunate Covid-19 layoff.

Kante, off the pitch, is hugely respected for his warmth and humble attitude, and as a player, he has forged a reputation for one of the finest defensive midfielders of the game.

He moved to Leicester in 2015 and was one of the stars who helped them win the EPL crown in 2015/16 season. Since then, he has become an invaluable member of the Blues squad and there is no doubt that Tuchel would rather him in his starting XI than out of it.
