“Back to Chelsea”- 21-year-old Blues loanee expresses his desire to make Stamford Bridge cut

Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher reveals his desire to return to Stamford Bridge after Crystal Palace loan

According to Steve Sidwell via Simon Phillips (h/t Football.London), Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher has reiterated his intention of returning to Stamford Bridge after completing his loan spell at Crystal Palace. He has been tremendous for the Eagles under Patrick Vieira.

Gallagher joined Vieira’s team in the summer on a loan deal until the end of the 2021-22 season. He also made his national team debut after coming on against San Marino in the November Qualifiers. The youngster was since subjected to links linking him with a move to Newcastle United in the future.

However, the 21-year-old squashed those rumours by revealing his intent to make the cut at Stamford Bridge. If he continues to progress as we have seen so far, there is little to suggest he will fail in his endeavour.

“Rio [Ferdinand] done an interview with him [Conor Gallagher], and he told me that after the interview Conor told him “when you present the interview, make sure to state I want to go back to Chelsea, that I’m not in the shop window.”

The England international mentioned to Rio Ferdinand that he has no intention of going anywhere and conveyed that he is not on the transfer list. This would be music to the ears of Chelsea fans, who would want to keep a man of his talents at the club.

His addition would be welcomed by Thomas Tuchel since it would help take on the Premier League heavyweights, Manchester City and Liverpool, in the long run. Gallagher has a tally of four goals and two assists this season from 11 matches in the league.

Should he gain prominence in the first-team next season, it would mean that there will be certain outgoings to maintain a healthy squad. Saul Niguez and Ross Barkley would be the obvious choices, as they have not been up to the expected standards.

While they have been better recently, it is unlikely that they would be preferred over someone who gives long term value.
