Boost for Chelsea as Real Madrid pull out of the transfer race for Erling Haaland
According to El Chiringuito host Josep Pederol (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have been handed a transfer boost in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland following Real Madrid backtracking on their interest.
The Norwegian was a star in the making at RB Salzburg when he exploded on the European scene after scoring a hat-trick in his debut in the Champions League. Following his move to Dortmund, he has gone on to even further heights, scoring and assisting for fun.
Naturally, his performances have attracted interest from clubs across Europe. This is especially true, given the case that a release clause worth £63million will get activated next summer.
This has alerted several clubs, including the Blues, to keep tabs on the player and be on the lookout to take advantage of the release clause. Meeting it would help the English club land their man on a bargain.
Clubs like Real, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move for the striker. But, Florentino Perez has recently pulled out, believing that the 21-year-old is bound to join a Premier League club.
The Los Blancos have since turned their focus towards Kylian Mbappe, who will see his contract run out at the end of the season. Thomas Tuchel’s side could be handed an advantage as they look to sign him away when the clause gets activated.

Having signed Romelu Lukaku recently, it remains to be seen where the Norwegian would fit in should he be signed. Lukaku has previously played in a two-man frontline alongside Lautaro Martinez, in which he had thrived.
Timo Werner has not met the expectations either. In Haaland, the Blues could be landing themselves the ideal upgrade.
