Chelsea to put in a bid for Aurelien Tchouameni of AS Monaco amidst interest from Real Madrid
According to EL Nacional (h/t ESPN), Chelsea are preparing to bid for the AS Monaco prospect Aurelien Tchouameni and will face competition from Real Madrid. He has become one of the most wanted prospects across Europe in a short period.
The 21-year-old has been linked to several European clubs in recent months for a possible transfer in the future. The Blues have also eyed him as a result and are looking to bring him in January.
However, Real are also interested in getting his signature and are leading the race due to the personal interest of the player. He is said to be preferring a move to the Spanish capital ahead of other options.
Supposedly, former Blues superstar Cesc Fabregas is trying to influence the youngster to move to Stamford Bridge. However, he still has the Madrid club in his sights, much to the disappointment of Roman Abramovich.
Abramovich and the board will still pursue the defensive midfielder and are ready to offer €38million in January. They have already made contact with Monaco and have begun negotiations for a future transfer.
The Frenchman himself would be a stumbling roadblock as he would also need to agree to a move. The midfield situation at the La Liga club also favours him, as Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are in their later years while Isco is not favoured by Carlo Ancelotti start in central midfield.

The Premier League leaders have high competition in midfield, with players like Ross Barkley and Saul Niguez already struggling for game time. Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher are also future midfield options and could threaten Tchouameni’s development.
We would need to be at our best to convince the Monaco midfielder if we are seriously targeting him for the future because regardless of the players we may possess right now, Tchouameni would be a very useful signing, especially in the long term.
