28-year-old starter “disgusted” by the actions of Chelsea as contract negotiations continue

Antonio Rudiger is unhappy with the offer from Chelsea amidst Bayern Munich interest

According to German news outlet Bild (h/t Football.London), Antonio Rudiger is left disappointed by the latest offer from Chelsea as contract negotiations continue amidst interest from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old will see his contract with the Blues expire at the end of the 2021-22 season. He could walk away on a free or agree to a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in January. However, he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge while feeling valued by the club.

Rudiger has demanded a salary package of £200,000 a week but, Marina Granovskaia has only offered a deal worth around £130,000 a week. He is unhappy with the new terms offered to him as he does not feel important to the club.

Bayern Munich are interested in getting the services of the German international as talks show no progress. They are also ready to match the demands of £10million a year, which would deal a blow to the English club during renewal talks.

It is understandable why the defender has asked for a raise given his commanding presence at the back. The centre-back could also be taking advantage of the current situation to force the club to meet his demands.

Rudiger’s displays have helped the team top the Premier League table while having the best defence in the league. Thomas Tuchel’s side have conceded only four goals from 11 league matches and have a three-point lead over Manchester City in second place.

With the likes of Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah still establishing their foothold in the team, Rudiger could nurture them to take the next step in the development. This is without mentioning that Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta are in the latter stages of their career.

Andreas Christensen, Silva and Azpilicueta are also in line to become free agents in the summer and could leave a massive dent in the Blues backline. The extension of the German centre-back is crucial given the circumstances.
