“Consistently good”- Arsenal legend backs Chelsea loanee to make it at the Bridge

Ian Wright has praised Conor Gallagher and expects him to make it at Chelsea

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty show (h/t Metro), Ian Wright believes Conor Gallagher has been consistently good throughout his loan spells and says that Chelsea cannot afford to ignore him anymore.

The 21-year-old joined Crystal Palace in the summer on a season-long loan spell and has fared well thus so far. His displays have impressed Patrick Viera, the Palace coach, and has earned him praise from Gary Neville too.

The Arsenal legend believes that Gallagher has shown his worth and that his parent club needs to acknowledge his performances. He also advises Thomas Tuchel to reward the player with a deserved first-team call in the future.

A consistent player, Wright was right to point out the standards that Gallagher sets for himself. Given that he is also a Chelsea fan, one can be assured that the 21-year-old will go that extra mile when needed.

“Being a Chelsea fan, he’s obviously driven to try to get back there and be where he wants to be. Gallagher is one of those players – when I watch him, he’s never less than seven out of 10. He’s consistently good in every game I’ve seen him play.

The England international would be delighted to know that his output has been recognised by legends of the game. Whether Tuchel too will follow suit remains to be seen. Standing out at a slew of clubs is no mean task.

“I think for him, it’s even tougher. Because he’s had to go out from Chelsea, go somewhere like West Brom who got relegated [despite] being the best player there, come to Palace and still be the standout. It’s unbelievable how he’s doing this.”

The Englishman has previously enjoyed successful loan spells at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion. His ability to adapt to different teams and play different systems is a great asset indeed.

The Champions League holders will need another option in midfield should Saul Niguez departs after his loan spell. Not to mention, both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho aren’t getting any younger and fresh blood in the squad could add that hunger and drive that is very much needed.
