“Same spirit”: Ex-Chelsea ace gives four reasons why the Blues will end the season as PL champions

Victor Moses believes Chelsea have what it takes to be Premier League champions

According to Football.london, former Chelsea star Victor Moses has backed the Blues to end the 2021/22 season as Premier League champions.

The versatile 30-year-old spent nine years at Chelsea before moving to Spartak Moscow in 2021. His time at the Bridge was largely spent out on loan.

Moses’ best season for the Blues came in 2016/17 under Antonio Conte. Deployed as a wing-back, the Nigerian international helped the club to the Premier League title that season. It is fair to say that he knows a championship-winning side when he sees one.

The four horsemen for Chelsea’s title charge?

Moses has underlined four key factors that will aid Chelsea in their title pursuit. He believes the club has an excellent coach and a solid squad to boot.

“Cool line-up, strong coach. The three-defender setup is great for today’s matchmaking, and the offensive now has Lukaku, one of the best forwards in general.”

Apart from it, he also goes on to admit that Thomas Tuchel’s three-man defensive system has so far worked a charm. This defensive solidity has proven to be the hallmark of Tuchel’s stint at the Bridge.

Lukaku the difference maker?

One factor Chelsea have lacked in recent years is an infallible goalscorer. Having spent the big bucks on Romelu Lukaku, the Blues have a proven monster of a player upfront. Moses has an excellent opinion of the forward, having played with him at Inter Milan in 2020.

Tuchel’s men are currently top of the league and have shown themselves capable of getting the desired results. As long as they keep the run going, there is no reason why they won’t be near the top come to the business end of the campaign.

“If they continue in the same spirit, they will have every chance.”

Lukaku is a beast on his day but is currently going through a lean spell. He underlined his ability as a leading forward last season by leading Inter to the title. Whether he can repeat it with Chelsea remains to be seen.
