A View From The Bridge

“Best for me”- 18-year-old PL defender sold by Chelsea this summer refuses to rule out Stamford Bridge return

Tino Livramento leaves the door open for a return to Chelsea

According to The Mirror, former Chelsea starlet Tino Livramento has refused to rule out a return to Stamford Bridge in the future.

The youngster came through the Blues academy and had been at the club from the age of eight. A standout performer at the youth level, he decided to swap Stamford Bridge for Premier League rivals Southampton earlier this summer.

While he admits his regret at calling it quits before making his first-team debut. Livramento was keen on first-team football and could not wait to get his shot at the big time.

“It would have been nice to play a game but I had to think what was best for me.”

Livramento has gone on to call the Chelsea academy the best in the world. While he has nothing but good things to say about the club, he admits his career may not have taken the leap it did of late had he stayed on at the Bridge.

“I’ll never have a bad word to say about how Chelsea treated me growing up and developing me into the player I am today. It’s probably the best academy in the world that anyone would want to go to and develop.”

The teenager has also left the door open for a return to Chelsea. While he did not give much away, it is an option that could be explored in the future. Livramento featured for Southampton last weekend at the Bridge, drawing a foul from Ben Chilwell and winning the visitors a penalty.

“Maybe one day, but I’m just enjoying my football at the moment at Southampton.”

According to the Daily Echo, Thomas Tuchel admitted that the Blues did everything they could to keep hold of the 18-year-old player. He does not harbour any ill feelings against the youngster for his decision.
