In his post-match comments after the fixture vs Norwich City (h/t Mirror), Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has highlighted the need to approach each match carefully without being distracted.
The Blues have been in fine form recently which is backed by their recent results. A 4-0 trashing of Malmo FF in the UEFA Champions League and 7-0 drubbing of the Canaries in their last Premier League match would definitely have boosted the morale within the club. The more fascinating part about the result in the latter game is that the Blues were without their top draw forwards Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.
Mason Mount stepped up to the plate and delivered a fine hat-trick at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. This was enhanced by a neat finish from Callum Hudson-Odoi and a bolstering strike from Ben Chilwell. An own goal from Max Aarons and a red card for Ben Gibson only made proceedings worse for the visitors.
The Blues have had an exceptional season so far and are currently sitting on the top of the PL table with their only defeat in England’s top-flight coming against Manchester City. The West London club may have become hot favourites for the PL title after running riot against Norwich but Tuchel has warned against complacency of any kind.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager spoke about the need to approach every game with dedication and not be distracted by anything that may happen off the pitch:
“I don’t want to get carried away too much because we play now four times in a row as favourites and I like the way we approach these games. It’s a humble approach and it’s an approach where we set our standards and we push ourselves and we play all in every match and are not distracted by the role which we are maybe seen in before the match.”
The German manager is an astute tactician and has revitalized the club ever since his arrival. He guided Chelsea to top European titles like the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup last season and is building on that good work this season.
The Blues have every reason to be overjoyed with their current form but a hectic schedule awaits the club in the coming months. The management would be hoping to continue in the same manner and look to add more trophies to their cabinet this season.
