Thomas Tuchel wants Chelsea to install eight cameras at Cobham to enhance training
According to Daily Mail, Thomas Tuchel has urged Chelsea to install eight new cameras at Cobham to step up player training this season.
Cobham is a technologically advanced training ground that enables Chelsea players to train day in, day out at an elite level. But apparently, Tuchel now wants to take it up a notch.
The German manager wants the club to install eight pole-mounted cameras on the ground to bring players under a deeper microscope.
This would enable the club to capture footage and play it back later to analyse and dissect the good and the bad from the training session. And papers have been submitted to Elmbridge Borough Council by planning agent Nancy Stuart regarding the changes.
An excerpt from the message reads (h/t The Sun via Daily Mail):
“The club is now seeking to enhance its facilities through installing cameras around several of the pitches, which will enable coaches to provide more thorough feedback. Technology has been playing a bigger role in coaching in a wide range of sports in recent years”
The statement adds that the solution is better than the usage of drones and more efficient. A decision regarding this is expected to be given later this month.
“Installing cameras at Cobham will allow training sessions to be recorded from a range of angles and heights. It is considered that this solution is preferable to the use of drones. The scheme will use leading camera and software technology to route back into the office for immediate analysis.”

Chelsea have started this season in superb form in Europe as well as domestically after winning the UEFA Champions League earlier this year. Tuchel would hope that the club maintains this run of form and are still on top when Cobham gets a facelift.
