“New energy”- Tuchel gives his views on difficult trip to St James Park

Thomas Tuchel explains why it is a difficult time for Chelsea to play Newcastle United

According to Football.London, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed the reason why it is a difficult time to play Newcastle United following the recent Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund’s takeover of the club.

Chelsea travel to Tyneside to take on the Magpies in their Premier League match on Saturday. The Blues will be keen to secure all three points and pull away in the title race.

Talking to the reporters, Tuchel has said that the Magpies are rejuvenated after the new ownership has taken over. He added that there is a sense of optimism which is also visible among the supporters.

“Things have changed for them and maybe in the dressing room too, the belief of the City, as you mentioned the belief in supporters too. Maybe that affects the atmosphere in the stadium but listen, we experience right now that there is huge value to play against us.”

He also mentions how the lack of matches played under Newcastle’s manager limits his ability to analyse them. It seems that the German is wary of every possibility that could happen, and knowing that is an advantage in itself.

“They have new energy in the city and the club after the takeover, they decided now to change the manager and this is what we have to deal with and overcome. It is a bit more difficult to analyse them as they have had only one match with the new coach and to look at, we are not 100 percent sure what to expect.”

There are no easy games in the Premier League and Tuchel is right to be wary. However, while Newcastle have the finances, they have not gotten a chance to splash it yet. The Magpies remain an average side at best and Tottenham Hotspur showed last week that the familiar deficiencies still remain.
