Thomas Tuchel compares Reece James with a horse after his brace for Chelsea vs Newcastle
According to the Metro, Thomas Tuchel has compared Chelsea star Reece James with a horse after scoring two incredible goals in the win over Newcastle United that helped them cement the top spot in the Premier League table.
It was the James show yesterday on Tyneside. Chelsea were patiently waiting for a breakthrough for an hour, and then it came from their right-back. The first was a close-range shot from inside the penalty box in the 65th minute and the second one was a screamer.
He did what he does best, going forwards and capitalizing on the moments. James already has four goals and three assist this year in the Premier League. Chelsea won the match convincingly with a 3-0 margin after Jorginho scored a goal from the spot in the last quarter of the match.
Tuchel praised the small team moments that lead up to the defender’s goal before going on to curiously compare his star right-back with a horse.
“We don’t need exercise shooting with Reece; he shoots like a horse.”
After the German manager took over the charge from Frank Lampard earlier this year, the full-backs’ attacking intent has improved. They are going forward frequently and making runs in the channels to attack small spaces high up the pitch. Such attacking plays also created chances for Chelsea’s left-back Ben Chilwell, who has three goals this season.
The 48 years old manager also accepted that he’s using such attacking intent and allows his full-backs to show their attacking abilities.
‘Reece is allowed to come inside; that’s not a problem,’ he said. ‘All the spaces we want to attack from, we have all the players in the spaces we want to be dangerous.
