“No hard feelings”: Tuchel admits Chelsea did all they could to keep this promising Southampton starlet

Thomas Tuchel: Chelsea did everything they could to keep Tino Livramento

According to the Daily Echo, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that the Blues did everything they could to keep hold of Tino Livramento.

The youngster came through the Blues academy and had been at the club from the age of eight. A standout performer at the youth level, he decided to swap Stamford Bridge for Southampton earlier this summer.

A regular feature for our reserve sides, he never made the step up to make a senior appearance. The same cannot be said of his time at St Marys where he has already made six Premier League appearances.

“If Tino decided to go, it’s fair enough, he does very well, we wish him all the best.”

Chelsea will come u[p against their former prodigy later tonight when they face Southampton. Speaking ahead of the game, Tuchel admits the club did all they could to keep him at the Bridge.

“He was highly rated, we did everything to keep him here, to show him his future and his possibilities to compete also for a position in our team.”

The Chelsea boss, however, harbours no ill feelings towards Livramento. If anything the player decided to do what was best for him and we wish him nothing but at the best, except maybe when he goes up against us.

“He decided to go, that’s his decision, sometimes you have to accept it, there are no hard feelings.”

Livramento has featured in every game for Southampton

A right-back, Livramento would have needed to compete against both Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta for a spot in the first team, a task easier said than done.

While some may have relished the challenge, Livramento chose to take his talents elsewhere. There is no one clear path to success and he appears to be doing well at Southampton.

The Blues have a number of young talents who are set for a bright future in the game. Unfortunately, not every one of them may reach their potential at Stamford Bridge. Livramento has all the tools to make it big. Whether he will return to the club sometime in the future remains to be seen.
