“It’s huge”- Tuchel reveals what has changed about 22-year-old hat-trick hero in recent weeks following Norwich win

Thomas Tuchel explains how Mason Mount has changed in recent games following win against Norwich City

According to Football.London, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has spoken in the post-match press conference about the changes that Mason Mount has gone through in the past few weeks. This was following their 7-0 thrashing of Norwich City at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Mount scored a hat-trick in the game where his teammates Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James and Ben Chilwell were also among the goalscorers. The 22-year-old stepped up when the Blues needed him to as their two strikers were out with injuries.

Tuchel heaped praise for the England international in his press conference by stating that the hat-trick was ‘huge’ for them. The German also said that he feels the pressure for a goal is off his shoulders after a goal drought this season.

“A hat-trick for Mason is huge because it’s huge. He’s very proud and puts a lot of pressure on himself. I feel him a bit lighter and playing with more freedom in the last matches. This is what we need.”

When asked about the importance of Mount, the Champions League winner said that he plays as a striker while also having the role of a midfielder. He continued by saying that they want to depend on the Englishman for that very reason as he offers so much to the team.

“Well as you know, we play in most games with three strikers and Mason is one of them. You can say he’s maybe between an eight and a 10, so not a real striker, so in that way we really depend on him. He plays a key role. There’s very rarely one reason why things happen like this – but we depend on Mason and we want to.

Mount will be delighted that he was able to break the duck after a goalless streak of games. This also comes at such an important time for the Premier League club due to the injuries to Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

Chelsea will be hoping that Mount will be able to fill that gap in the meantime, especially with Kai Havertz dropping another performance to forget in the Premier League.
