A View From The Bridge

Team News: Who is out and who is in for Tuchel as Chelsea prepare to take on Malmo in the UCL

The latest Chelsea injury news ahead of Champions League tie vs Malmo

Defending champions Chelsea will look to put injury troubles aside as they prepare to face Swedish giants Malmo in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

Thomas Tuchel’s side lost 1-0 to Juventus last time around and find themselves in second place with three points on the board. They will be keen to put Malmo to the sword and strengthen their chances of making the last 16.

As per information provided by Football.london, we now take a look at some of the injury concerns that Tuchel and co could be facing ahead of the clash at Stamford Bridge.

The most high profile absentee is likely to be German international Antonio Rudiger. The 28-year-old not only missed Germany’s World Cup qualifier against North Macedonia but also Chelsea’s win over Brentford at the weekend.

As things stand, it is unclear if he will be in contention to feature against Malmo. Given that there has been no update from Tuchel or the club regarding a return date, his ability to compete on Wednesday remains unlikely.

Thankfully Chelsea’s other top centre half Thiago Silva is expected to feature. The Brazilian was not out injured but missed the clash at the weekend owing to his international commitments.

According to the report, Chelsea have both good and bad news on the attacking front as well. Christian Pulisic remains sidelined and has not featured for the club since September. While he is making progress, the American sis till not ready to take to the field.

Hakim Ziyech could, however, be set to make an appearance. The Moroccan missed the weekend’s clash with a headache and is expected to feature on Wednesday.

Tuchel has enough options on his plate to see off Malmo this week. The Blues despite their struggles are comfortably the favourites going into the clash.
