A View From The Bridge

PL rivals could be set to land two Chelsea legends, one on and one off the pitch

Newcastle could hire Frank Lampard to lure Chelsea target Eden Hazard from Real Madrid

According to ESPN (h/t The Express), after the departure of Steve Bruce, Newcastle is considering hiring Frank Lampard for the head coach position in an attempt to lure Eden Hazard, who is also a Chelsea target.

Eden Hazard, who had an incredible portfolio at Chelsea is facing difficulty adapting to La Liga with Real Madrid. Since his £100m move to Santiago Bernabeu in 2019, he only scored five goals in three years. This season, the Belgian has ten appearances without registering a single goal for the Los Blancos across all competitions. He is losing fans support in Spain and could look to rejuvenate his career in England.

In his eight years long career with the Blues, he has achieved some incredible feats. The forward has 110 goals in 352 games, making him one of the deadlier attackers in the Premier League.

He was crucial in Chelsea’s success during the last decade. He helped them achieve two Premier league titles, one FA Cup, one English League Cup and two UEFA Europa Keague/UEFA Cup titles.

According to El Nacional (h/t The Express), Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has a deep affection for the striker and feels that he can rekindle his career Chelsea. But he can face a challenge in bringing the striker back at Stamford Bridge with Newcastle now interested in signing him.

After the Saudi takeover of Newcastle in the leadership of Amanda Staveley, they have gained serious investment to make the team stronger. In an interview, Amanda Staveley made clear their intentions.

“We have great ambitions — I hope it’s going to be a game-changer for Newcastle United.

Newcastle parted ways with Steve Bruce in a mutual consent earlier this month and is looking for a manager to take them to new heights. Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is on their list along with Former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca and ex-Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre.

By appointing Frank Lampard, they can go one step ahead of Chelsea in the transfer race of Eden Hazard. This is because the player is an admirer of the Blues legend and shared the field with him previously.  Whether a reunion at St James Park is on the cards remains to be seen.
