Dutch star Matthijs de Ligt offered to Chelsea Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen could leave
According to Goal (h/t Daily Star), Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt has been offered to Chelsea by Juventus. Rumours link the defender with a move to Stamford Bridge as Juve want to offload his huge wages.
The 22-year-old moved from AFC Ajax in 2019 in a transfer that saw the Italian club pay £75million. He had a difficult start but has soon become one of the backbones of the Bianconeri defence.
However, Juve are facing financial issues which have been made worse by the Covid-19 situation. As a result, they are said to be open to selling de Ligt to get rid of his wages as well as recoup what they paid for his services.
The Dutch ace is claimed to be on a wage package of £280,000-per-week and has a supposed release clause worth £130million said to become active in the summer. But, Massimiliano Allegri’s side are ready to sell him for a fee lower than the clause.
The Blues are said to be keeping tabs as they could lose both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on a free as their contract expires next summer. Rumours also state that Thomas Tuchel’s side could try their hand for Jules Kounde yet again.
Recently, super-agent Mino Raiola, who represents the Dutch international, has said that his client could leave the Old Lady this summer. Speaking on the issue, he said:
“De Ligt could leave Juventus at the end of the season. This is how the market works, there are many clubs who are interested in his services.”
