Team News: Chelsea could be without six first-team stars against Brentford this weekend

Injury News: Chelsea could be without six senior stars for the clash against Brentford

According to the latest team news as per The Express, Premier League giants Chelsea could be without six players for this weekend’s clash against Brentford City due to injury.

The Blues went into the international break top of the Premier League table. However, the days since have not been kind and a number of our players have picked up knocks.

One of the major players who is now fighting against time to be fit for the weekend is Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian missed Belgium’s UEFA Nations League third-placed playoff against Italy. Thomas Tuchel has refused to put a specific timeframe on his return.

“Romelu is suffering from muscle overload. I don’t know how long it will take to recover.”

As if not having your ace striker is difficult, Thomas Tuchel also has a number of other injury concerns to contend with. This includes Antonio Rudiger, who is suffering from back pain. He could yet make the cut should he pass a late fitness test.

The same can be said of Reece James who also missed Chelsea’s last game against Southampton. He missed out on national duty with England and is uncertain of featuring this weekend for Chelsea.

Another defender Thiago Silva is ruled out completely given that he is to represent Brazil against Uruguay later this week.

French star N’Golo Kante could be another player who looks set to miss out. The Frenchman also missed games for club and country in recent days after testing positive for COVID-19.

American international Christian Pulisic also misses out after an ankle injury sustained in the international break in September. The winger is still some way away from a return to action.

Despite the absentees, there were some positives from the international break. German international Timo Werner continued his purple patch and appears to be in good nick. With Lukakku potentially out, Werne r could be set to lead the line against Thomas Franks’s side.
