According to BBC, former Chelsea academy graduate and first-team star Fikayo Tomori admits he is now settled in his new home at AC Milan.
The Englishman came through the ranks at Chelsea, even going to make his first-team bow for the Blues. He however fell down the pecking order and had to leave in order to pursue a career that saw him get regular playtime.
Tomori joined Milan on loan in January before making the move permanent in the summer. He has played 31 times for the Italian giants since and is emerging as a top player for them at the back.
The 23-year-old believes Milan have made him feel at home and have shown faith in his abilities. He feels settled at the San Siro and is right now at a better point in his life.
“The club has shown a lot of faith in me. I feel really settled and it has led me to be here.”
Tomori admits that falling down the Chelsea pecking order was a difficult time for him in his career. It is to be expected given the competition at a club such as the Blues. Thankfully for him, he is in a place where he can play on a regular basis.
“It was a difficult time, every footballer wants to play and I got the opportunity to do that at Milan.”
Tomori is under no illusions that he made the right call in moving to Milan. We do not begrudge him the opportunity to further his career even if it’s elsewhere.
“I believe so [that he’s justified the move]. In the tail-end of my time at Chelsea, I wasn’t in the England squad. To go to Milan and be back in it, something must have gone right.”
The former Blues star also earned himself a call up to Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad. Whether it is the moment he ensures his spot in the Three Lions squad as a regular remains to be seen.
