Chelsea star Mason Mount reveals what prompted him to get vaccinated against Covid
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea star Mason Mount has revealed that his experience of missing out on a part of this summer’s UEFA Euros played a part in his decision to get vaccinated.
The Blues ace was a part of the England side that made it to the final of the summer tournament. Mount notably missed the Three Lions’ final group game against the Czech Republic and also was an unused substitute in the first knockout tie against Germany.
This was after he came into contact with Scotland international and Chelsea teammate Billy Gilmour in the 0-0 draw in the group stages. Gilmour had earlier tested positive for coronavirus.
Mount has now gone on to confirm that he has since taken both shots of his vaccine. The fact that he has come out and revealed his vaccination status is a welcome addition.
“I’m double vaccinated now.”
Missing the game against the Czech admittedly played a role in the Blues star’s decision. The 22-year-old does not appear keen to let any opportunity within his control stop him from playing all the top games to come.
“Going through that experience, missing the game, a top, top game kind of did have an effect on my decision.”
Mount goes on to add that vaccination is not something that can be forced upon someone. Had it not been for his personal experience, it is debatable if he would have gone ahead with his vaccination.
“I don’t think you can force anyone to get it but, for me, going through that experience it did make me want to get it and get it quite quickly.”
England manager Gareth Southgate has suggested that conspiracy theories would be playing a role in his players not getting jabbed. Thankfully Mount does not appear to number in that category.
