According to The Sun, Chelsea star Christian Pulisic is ready to step up his rehabilitation from injury during the ongoing international break.
The American international joined the club in the summer of 2019 and has put in a number of eye-catching performances. However, injuries have severely limited his opportunities at the Bridge.
Little appears to have changed this season. The 23-year-old is yet to feature for the club since our season opener against Crystal Palace. An ankle knock picked up in the USA vs Honduras match on September 9 has seen him sidelined since.
Club football has taken a break due to the international fixtures in the upcoming week. Pulisic however is hard at work and is ready to step up his efforts to return to the field.
According to the report, a club source has revealed that the player could step up his efforts next week, provided all goes well. While it does not in any way give us a clear picture of Pulisic’s return, things are at least looking up.
“Maybe next week, if all goes well.”
Thankfully Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is unwilling to rush his injured stars back to action. This augurs well for players such as Pulisic who need the extra care.
The American international has so far made 79 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and assisting 14 more. During the same time, he has missed 36 games due to various injuries.
Pulisic is on his day an overwhelming force down the flank and an outlet for key goals. The sooner he returns to full fitness, the better Chelsea will be equipped to take down their opponents.
