“Top of the table”: Tuchel sends a message to title rivals following late win over Southampton

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel sends a message to title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City

According to The Express, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has sent a message to Premier League title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Blues looked to be on their way to settling for a draw against Southampton at Stamford Bridge. However, late goals from Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell saw them end the game with all three points in the bag.

The win takes Chelsea to the top of the table at least for the night. That could change after the Liverpool vs Manchester City showdown at Anfield on Sunday. The match is clearly the showdown tie of the week.

Tuchel is well aware that his side could drop down the standings by Sunday night. He does not, however, let it get to him. He is not keen for the Blues to get carried away by their win and appears to see the long game.

“We don’t get carried away by the fixtures or the table right now but it was a good response and was important after two defeats.”

The win snaps Chelsea’s two-match losing streak. It is always good to bring negativity to an end and the winner will have done well to the team’s morale. The impact winning the game has had is not lost on the German boss.

“A late winner always feels good and it’s good for the atmosphere and the belief so we’re happy.”

While Chelsea may have won, it was another frustrating night for another one of our title rivals, Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once again got his tactics wrong and had to settle for a point at home.

United and Chelsea began the day on the same amount of points. The Blues now have a two-point advantage over the Red Devils.

The Blues have had a fine start to the season and are in the mix for a title challenge. There are still miles to go before the campaign comes to a close and a lot could change in that time. Hopefully, this win is the beginning of another unbeaten streak that Tuchel’s men can put together.
