Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel sends a message to struggling star Kai Havertz
According to The Metro, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has opened up on the struggles faced by Kai Havertz who is yet to hit his stride this season.
The German ended last season in top form, scoring the winner in the UEFA Champions League final. He has however started this season unceremoniously and has managed just a goal and an assist in 10 games.
Tuchel for his part has accepted the reality of the situation that Havertz is not in top form. He has backed his 22-year-old to come good and assures him that the club will do all they can to help him.
“He does everything to reach his level again and we will do everything to help him.”
The Blues boss goes on to add that the onus is now on Havertz to force his way back into the first XI. As things stand, he is lacking in critical aspects such as goals and assists. Once he starts contributing more, his position at the club should be secure.
“The story has not changed, but he lacks, as simple as that, the statistics of decisive things, of goals and assists and he needs to fight his way back into the team.”
Tuchel has no qualms regarding Havertz’s mental state. He believes the German is in the right state of mind and is well aware of what is at stake. The only way the 22-year-old can work hi way back into his manager’s plans is on the field.
“He’s in good shape and a good mental state. He knows what he’s fighting for and that’s the situation right now.”
The club’s faith in Havertz appears absolute. He is but young and still developing as a player. He is ready to do his part and it should hold him in good stead.
“We trust in him and we believe in him and the rest has to come from him and he’s willing to do so.”
Havertz enjoyed a good Euro 2020 with Germany netting twice. He also impressed for Chelsea in pre-season, showing everyone that he is capable of. It is only a matter of him rediscovering his mojo.
