Transfer News: Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland demanding outrageous wages amid links to Chelsea
According to ESPN (h/t Football.London), Erling Haaland would demand a salary that is outside the wage structure at Chelsea. This could spell trouble for the Blues as this could put the Borussia Dortmund striker outside their reach.
Haaland has carried on his excellent form from last season and is looking great as always. The striker has scored 13 goals in 10 appearances while assisting four times during that period.
The striker scored an unbelievable 41 goals and had 12 assists from 41 appearances in the 2020-21 season. As a result, the 21-year-old won the Golden Boy award last season.
It is said that the Norwegian is demanding a package of £30 million a year or a weekly wage of around £500,000. This could essentially put out their interest in the Dortmund forward.
However, if Marina Granovskaia can use her famed skills in negotiation to lower that asking price, the Bundesliga forward can still be an option. But she would have to deal with Mino Raiola, the infamous agent, who represents the striker.
The English club would also have to trigger the release clause in his contract which amounts to £63million. The German club would not negotiate to go below the release clause as a striker of his calibre would cost a lot more.

While the release clause makes the Norwegian international a feasible option, his wage demands take away that bonus. This is without mentioning the high agent fees that Raiola would demand. All in all, Thomas Tuchel’s side may have it tough in negotiating an offer for the player.
