Transfer News: Chelsea eye Aurelien Tchouameni as Saul Niguez permanent transfer could be off
According to TeamTalk, Chelsea are interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni after failing to lure Saul Niguez in a permanent deal.
The 21 years old has caught the eye after a series of incredible performances for both club and country. The Monaco midfielder rose to fame after he displayed emphatic successes for the Ligue 1 side in the 2020/21 season. Still in his infancy, the Frenchman can go a long way in his career.
Chelsea are one of the sides interested in Tchouameni. The Blues were keen on a midfielder earlier in the summer and signed Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on a season-long loan.
Despite having an interest in signing Niguez permanently, the club is constrained by some difficulties. The Spaniard has not enjoyed a particularly good start to his life at the Bridge. He has shown signs of improvement of late and that’s enough for Thomas Tuchel. But the question remains would he be able to adapt to the Premier League.
The Monaco youngster Tchouameni can however offer the Blues fluidity and pace in the midfield. Chelsea already has brawn and firepower in their midfield. All they need now is someone who can break into the lines of the opponent defence by making decisive passes.
Tchouameni’s energy can help them too during the transition phase. The 21-year-old has shown that he’s one of the leading youngsters in the world and an investment in him could prove decisive moving forward.
Italian paper Tuttosport (h/t TeamTalk) has claimed that Tchouameni will cost around £37m(€45m). The signing of Saul Niguez on a permanent deal can cost about £30m. Given the former’s age and potential, he could prove to be a bargain in the long term.
