Martin Keown praises Chelsea right-back Reece James for ‘class’ performance vs Norwich City
According to Football.London, Arsenal icon Martin Keown has applauded Reece James for his performance after Chelsea recorded an exhilarating victory against Norwich City.
The 21-year-old right-back has developed well in the last couple of seasons and is starting to cement his place in the senior squad. He put in another superb display against the canaries and got on the scoresheet courtesy of a sublime strike just before half-time. James was just one of three academy products who got their names on the scoresheet in their PL match on Saturday with Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi being part of this special list.
The young wing-back has already played 93 games for the West London club across all competitions during which he has scored 5 goals and provided 11 assists. He has shown immense potential and could be a big part of this defence in the near future too
The Former English professional footballer commented on his special performance against Norwich. He also mentioned the quality of the academy products that the Blues are producing on a regular basis:
“Another outstanding talent out of the academy, they are coming thick and fast. He, today, I thought was absolutely outstanding. He was pure class. The way that he is developing as a player, he almost bullies defenders.”
The West Londoners have managed to create a stellar attacking threat even though Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are sidelined. The display against the canaries showed the kind of depth that Thomas Tuchel’s squad has. With a hectic schedule coming up, the German manager would be looking for his younger player to step up to the plate and take their opportunities as much as possible.
