Chelsea handed injury boost as crucial first-team duo return to training ahead of Brentford clash

Chelsea receive boost as N’Golo Kante and Reece James look set to return from injury ahead of Brentford game

According to The Sun, Chelsea have been handed a boost ahead of their game against Brentford as both N’Golo Kante and Reece James could make a swift return from injury.

The Blues have been dominant at the start of this season and went into the international break this month in good mood as they occupied the top spot in the Premier League table.

Although Thomas Tuchel’s men did suffer two successive defeats at the hands of Manchester City and Juventus, they bounced back against Southampton. However, two players that were missing from the Juventus, as well as the Southampton game, were N’Golo Kante and Reece James.

The French international looked off the paces against Man City and was brought off eventually. It was later confirmed that the 30-year-old had suffered Covid-19, courtesy of which he also missed the chance to represent France in their bid to win the UEFA Nations League recently.

However, the midfielder has now made a return to first-team training and looks set to be in contention for the game against Brentford. Given his quality and constant pressing, it would be a huge relief to have the Frenchman back.

James, on the other hand, suffered a knock on his ankle during the Man City game in late September and also failed to represent England during their World Cup qualifiers this month.

But like Kante, the 21-year-old has made good progress on his recovery and stands a chance to be available for selection against the Bees on the weekend. One of the more natural full-backs in Tuchel’s armour, the Englishman’s return will be a timely one.

With an incredible heavy fixture schedule post the international break, Chelsea will be more than hopeful of having the duo of James and Kante completely fit for the upcoming games.
