Speaking at the Festival dello Sport, organised by Gazzetta dello Sport via BeSoccer (h/t Football.London), Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that it is easier to coach Romelu Lukaku as opposed to Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
The German manager took Paris Saint-Germain to the final of the 2020 UEFA Champions League but was sacked the following season. He then took over the managerial role at Chelsea after Frank Lampard’s tumultuous tenure at the helm was terminated.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach has energized and revitalized Stamford Bridge ever since his arrival and led the Blues to European glory with the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup. Tuchel has been building on the good work as his team seems to be dismantling any opponent in its way.
The 46-year-old was backed in the transfer window with Romelu Lukaku joining the club for a fee of £97.5 million. The Belgian striker has had a decent start to life with the West London club by scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist in 11 games across all competitions in the season so far.
The German manager commented on the former Inter Milan striker and revealed how it was easier to coach him than some of the stalwarts at Paris:
“It’s easier to coach Lukaku than Neymar or Mbappe. They are two completely different clubs with regards to style and organization”
Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are considered some of the best footballing talents in the world right now. They are a feared attacking duo and Tuchel has had the privilege of coaching both of them. Despite that, he hints that it was easier to coach Lukaku which speaks volumes about the Belgian striker’s attitude and ability with regards to his profession.
The West London club has become a force to be reckoned with under the guidance of Tuchel. The manager has lifted the spirits of the Chelsea faithful and the supporters will be hoping that the club can continue their rich vein of form with Lukaku leading their charge for trophies on all fronts.
