Chelsea face off against AS Roma and Real Valladolid for Brazilian U-17 goalkeeper Gabriel
According to UOL (h/t TEAMtalk), Chelsea are keeping an eye on young Brazilian goalkeeper Gabriel.
There were rumours over the weekend that claimed Thomas Tuchel’s side are looking into Charlton goalkeeper James Beadle. It seems that a young goalkeeper is on the club’s radar and the search is not restricted to English shores.
Spanish newspaper AS (h/t TEAMtalk), have given an update on the news saying Serie A giants AS Roma are also interested in Gabriel. They have gone on to say that only Valladolid and Roma have so far made contact with the shot-stopper’s representatives.
The youngster appears to have a release clause of €7m in his contract with Bahia and it expires only in 2024. However, it is said that a different deal could be agreed upon in which 70 per cent of his rights will be sold for a fee of €2m.
The U-17 goalkeeper has to wait till he turns 18 or gets a European passport to be allowed to move to a different continent. But, it is suggested that he is close to earning an Italian passport meaning the move could happen soon.
Currently, he is training with the U-23 side as well as the first team meaning his growth is going smoothly. Tuchel’s team would have to step it up if they are keen to land him.

The Blues are not concerned with goalkeepers in the first team with Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga in the mix. Recently there have been rumours suggesting Kepa could be on his way to Juventus following his tough time in England.
With Mendy all but locking down the starting goalkeeper’s spot, the club will do well to develop a player who can take over in a few years time. Gabriel could be one to do just that.
