Romelu Lukaku expected to be out for a few weeks due to ankle injury vs Malmo but agent offers hope
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Romelu Lukaku is expected to be out for a few weeks due to the ankle injury he suffered in the Champions League. Lukaku picked up the injury against Malmo as he twisted his ankle due to a challenge.
Chelsea are fearful of the fact that the striker won’t be playing before the international break. It is expected that the Belgian will be out for at least two to three weeks from early assessment.
The 28-year-old was brought down by Malmo’s Lasse Nielsen in the penalty box in the first half. The forward subsequently had to be brought off as he could not continue any further.
It is said that the Belgian striker was seen on crutches as a precaution when he left Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea striker also underwent scans on Thursday but the results weren’t clear because of the swollen ankle.
The Blues will also be without Timo Werner as he too suffered an injury in the first half. He pulled with a hamstring problem and was taken off shortly by the medical staff.
Thomas Tuchel’s side will be relieved since the fixtures are on their side before the international break. Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello has said that the Belgian international would be trying his best to make an early recovery, in what comes as a boost for the Blues.

The English club should not be risking the 28-year-old striker unless a full recovery is made because of the ‘easy’ fixture list. The £97.5 million record signing is crucial for the title challenge and having him at his best would be the priority.
