Mendy returns; key midfielder out: Chelsea team news vs Man City

The latest Chelsea team news as the Blues look to maintain their good form against Premier League champions Manchester City

Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t football.london), Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has provided an update on the availability of players ahead of their clash against Manchester City.

The Blues will be looking to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table when they face Manchester City on Saturday. Thomas Tuchel’s men have been incredible so far as they picked up wins against both Arsenal & Tottenham Hotspur.

Additionally, the West London club also managed to sneak in a point against Liverpool at Anfield despite playing with 10 men on the pitch for the entire second half. Thus, the Stamford Bridge outfit have certainly churned out the points so far this season.

However, Tuchel will be going into the game on the weekend with some injuries. The German boss told reporters in his pre-match press conference (h/t football.london):

“Christian Pulisic is still out, and for Mason Mount, it is too soon. He has a minor injury from the Aston Villa game. He made a big step, huge progress, but it is not enough to be ready for tomorrow.”

Mason Mount will be a huge miss for Chelsea, but Tuchel confirmed that the youngster could have played the game if it was a day later.

“The steps for recovery he (Mount) is doing right now are huge. It would maybe be possible he played if the game was one day later. It is a minor injury but still, it is a disappointment for him and us because he is a player that we count on.”

In some good news for the club, Edouard Mendy will be fit for the game on Saturday and is set to get the nod ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
