Transfer News: Chelsea still hopeful of sending out Malang Sarr on loan

According to transfer news from Goal (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea are still hoping to secure a loan deal for Malang Sarr. Transfer windows in both Turkey and Russia are still open and the Blues are making efforts to arrange a loan there.

Malang Sarr was one of the most impressive prospects at OGC Nice prior to his move last summer. Chelsea managed to get him on a free transfer and sent him on loan to Porto right away. The French youngster started in decent fashion but he hardly got a look-in in the league games for the Portuguese giants.

He was given some game time during most of their cup and notably featured in the shock win over Juventus in the Champions League. However, he was back to Chelsea after his loan but the plan was to send him on loan again with the club having a number of players starring in his position. A late effort was made on deadline day to loan him out to Greuther Furth (h/t Daily Mail).

The deal got even as close as Sarr going through medicals in Germany. However, a deal could not be agreed on in time as his wages were understood to be the issue. Chelsea are still exploring other possible options in Turkey and Russia. The transfer windows there are still open and it could be their last chance to get him a temporary switch.

There are other countries with open windows as well but it is understood that only clubs from Russia or Turkey can possibly take on his wages. Sarr has not featured for the Chelsea senior side and is training with a separate group. He is clearly not in the plans for Thomas Tuchel and the sooner a loan is arranged, the better.
