Chelsea told they made mistake over Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner
According to Mirror, Garth Crooks feels that Chelsea made a mistake over the whole Tammy Abraham-Timo Werner situation. The BBC pundit was of the opinion that the Blues made a mistake by letting go of Abraham and retaining Werner.
It was a rather meek attacking display from Chelsea as they stumbled towards their first loss of the season against Manchester City. The Blues forwards produced nothing of real significance as City grabbed a deserved win. The result and display put the likes of Werner under the scanner who has continued to struggle.
The German striker would have hoped to end his debut season blues and get into the act this season. However, he has not performed as such and it keeps the scrutiny on him. The same day, one of Chelsea’s sold players, Tammy Abraham was lighting it up for Roma within the short time he has been there.
Chelsea’s decision to let go of Abraham and keep Werner was an understandable one. However, the way the season has started, it is Abraham’s sale that looks like a blunder. Pundit Garth Crooks was also of the same opinion.
“The Blues, on the other hand, may have made a rather important mistake by selling Tammy Abraham to Roma and retaining the services of Timo Werner. In the past I thought Werner might be the better option given the way Thomas Tuchel likes his teams to play. But it would appear the German international suffers from acute stage fright and I don’t think anyone can help him.”

It’s hard to say why Werner is still not producing the desired impact at Chelsea given it has been more than a season since he has been here. On the other hand, it could well come back to bite Chelsea should Abraham keep his form.
