Giorgio Chiellini tips Chelsea star and Italy teammate Jorginho to win the Ballon d’Or
According to Sky Sports, Giorgio Chiellini is of the opinion that Chelsea star Jorginho is deserving of winning the Ballon d’Or. The Juventus veteran feels that his Italy mate deserves the prestigious award after a superb season for both club and country.
There are almost no words to describe how good of a season Jorginho had for Chelsea and Italy as well in 2021. From being a much-maligned character at Chelsea during his early days to becoming the heartbeat of the side, Jorginho has not let anything come in his way. His stellar displays for the Blues in the middle of the park were essential to their second ever Champions League win.
Jorginho did not stop there as he went on to play another starring role but this time for Italy during the UEFA Euro 2020. Italy would emerge as champions and were probably one of the most consistent sides in the tournaments. On his return, he managed to bad another trophy, the Super Cup as Chelsea beat Villarreal.
Those trophies and achievements make a good case for the Ballon d’Or. His Italy mate and fellow EURO 2020 winner Giorgio Chiellini was of the opinion that Jorginho deserved the award. The Juventus defender felt that Jorginho’s win will be a collective one for him as well.
“I truly hope he will be able to win it, because he’s a good friend of mine. And it would also be an award that I will also feel is mine, being an Italian of course, and as a player involved in a win and emotions that will always be in our hearts.”

There are definitely a number of players who are in contention for the award. However, with so many prestigious trophies within a short time, Jorginho’s case is strong in this situation and the 29-year-old could well be one of the favourites to win it at the end of the year.
