Chelsea’s Odds in Winning The Premier League

The English Premier League 2021/22 has started. The best English clubs are ready to compete until the end of the season to be the best. These starts of competitions also means the betting and odds market is open again; time for to be open. As usual, the favorites to win are the big teams. Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are the clubs that have the greatest chance of winning. So, if you want to put your bet, you can choose one of the four teams. Especially for Chelsea, they could be one of the strongest candidates this season. Although last season only finished in 4th position, there are a number of reasons why the Blues have a great chance of winning the English Premier League trophy at the end of the season.

The Chance of Chelsea Winning: New Attacker

It is no secret that in recent seasons Chelsea have struggled to find reliable strikers to score goals. Names like Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain, and Timo Werner are difficult to find sharpness with the Blues. In fact, in the last 4 seasons, the only Chelsea player who can enter the top 10 English Premier League top scorers is Eden Hazard who plays as a midfielder. Last season, the top scorer was also from midfielder, Jorginho, the penalty master. Well, this problem could be resolved this season because Chelsea have returned Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge.

Regarding sharpness, there is no need to doubt Lukaku. During 2 seasons defending Inter Milan, he successfully scored 64 goals in 95 matches. Lukaku also has a lot of experience playing in the English Premier League and of course he is familiar with the Stamford Bridge atmosphere. All of that is valuable capital for Lukaku to score many goals for Chelsea this season.

The Strength of the Defender

In addition to the attack line, the strength of the back line is of course also important in order to win the title. Regarding that, the Blues were lucky because they had two top goalkeepers who could guard their goal. Edouard Mendy will still be Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper this season and he already proved his quality last season by keeping 25 clean sheets in 45 games.

As for Mendy’s back-up, there is Kepa Arrizabalaga who is still young and cannot be underestimated. Kepa’s name had indeed sunk due to declining performance, but it was more due to his reduced confidence. In terms of technical ability, Kepa is still very reliable. Moreover, Kepa’s confidence seems to have increased after he appeared in the UEFA Super Cup match and became the hero of the Blues’ victory in the penalty shootout. Having two goalkeepers who are both great, Chelsea need not worry if one of them is unable to appear this season.

Team Chemistry

Last season, one of the factors that caused Chelsea to limp at the start of the season was the new players who had not been able to adapt immediately. Names such as Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, and Thiago Silva had performed poorly because it was their first time playing in the English Premier League. However, as the season progresses, slowly but surely they start to tune in and get back to their best. This season they must have been more adaptable so that they could appear even more challenging.

Not only players, Thomas Tuchel, the German Coach, will certainly be more on fire this season. Last season he was able to lift Chelsea from 9th position in January to 4th position at the end of the season. Now, Tuchel has the opportunity to train from the start, so of course his chances of achieving better achievements are wide open

The Spirit to Winning the League

Another factor that can make Chelsea win the English Premier League this season is the high motivation that the players have. Because the Blues have not won the English Premier League for a long time. The last time they became champions was in the 2016/17 season, aka 4 years ago.As a result, most of the players in the current Chelsea squad have never tasted the English Premier League championship. That includes Romelu Lukaku who has never lifted the English Premier League trophy despite having played in England for 9 seasons. With the high motivation of the players, Chelsea will definitely fight it out to become champions.

The Champions of Europe Confidence

In addition to motivation, high self-confidence can also be the key to the success of a club. It is also owned by Chelsea’s players today thanks to the success of winning the Champions League last season plus winning the UEFA Super Cup. Success in conquering the European stage must really lift the morale of the Blues players.

Romelu Lukaku, who has just joined, must have had high confidence because last season he won the Scudetto with Inter. While Jorginho and Emerson Palmieri even won the 2020 European Cup with Italy. Most likely they can appear gacor this season because of increased confidence.

In conclusion, as one of the big 6 teams in England, Chelsea surely will challenge Manchester City for their title last season. This season will be one of the most interesting leagues as many stars are coming to the English Premier League, including Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Lukaku and others in Chelsea cannot be underestimated.
