Transfer News: Serie A giants lead Chelsea in the race for 21-year-old midfielder starlet

Juventus are leading the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco amid interest from Chelsea

According to Tuttosport (h/t The Sun), Chelsea are trailing to Juventus in their pursuit of Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni. The 21-year old midfielder recently appeared in the French squad for World Cup qualifying games. The youngster featured in all of the three qualifiers with his most recent appearance coming in the 2-0 win over Finland.

Tchouameni had an impressive time with Monaco in Ligue 1 last season. The midfielder was in action for the French club 36 times in the league in which he scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists to his team. This run of form saw him being called up by Didier Deschamps for the French national team. The performances by the young midfielder have been looked upon by European clubs who could to make a move for him next summer.

Aurelien Tchouameni is on the transfer radar of Chelsea and Juventus.

As per the report, Chelsea and Juventus are in the race to sign the 21-year old midfielder from the French club. Chelsea, in the summer, were looking to sign Declan Rice from West Ham but a deal could not prosper as the Hammers were firm on the £100m valuation of their player. However, Chelsea did sign a midfielder in Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid.

Thomas Tuchel’s has N’Golo Kante, Jorginhio and Mateo Kovacic at his disposal but after missing out on one of their key targets this summer, the Blues will be looking to reinforce their midfield line which has been crucial for the team’s success. Kante aged 30 and Jorginho, 29, are in their peak and Chelsea should be looking for a quality midfielder in case either of their star midfielders is unavailable for selection mid-season.

The 21-year old French international has garnered some attention towards him and it won’t be an easy task if Chelsea are to approach the player in the coming transfer window.

Tchouameni is linked with a move to Chelsea but Juventus are leading the race.
