“My way of playing”- 29-year-old midfield star provides statement for Chelsea fans over his criticism

Chelsea star Jorginho provides a statement for the fans over his criticism

Speaking to Gazetta (via Fabrizio Romano), Chelsea star Jorginho had a message for the Blues’ fans. The Italian midfielder felt that the fans are slowly warming up to his style of play after criticism during the early days and now they appreciate him.

It’s not always been easy for Jorginho at Chelsea. Those initial months were quite difficult as there was constant criticism over his rather different style of play compared to the Premier League. He was often seen as a slower presence on the field compared to his more experienced Premier League contemporaries.

However, the Italian fought it out over the next few seasons to become an indispensable asset to the side. It was under Thomas Tuchel that he took his game to new heights and not a lot of people would argue if he is categorized as one of the best in his position currently. The 29-year-old played a significant part in Chelsea’s much-awaited Champions League triumph and the Super Cup as well.

There was also success on the personal front after he was awarded the UEFA Best Player of the Year. Jorginho has now addressed the fans over the earlier criticism and current acceptance of his.

“Chelsea fans know I’ve always given my best for the club. Now they’re appreciating my way of playing and my skills as we had great results. But I’m proud to say that after some criticism, I’m now appreciated by Chelsea fans.”

Jorginho has surely come good over the three seasons at Chelsea and now the team relies so much on him. It is good to see him overcoming those struggles in the initial stages to get where he is now. There will be hope that he continues this kind of form to help Chelsea get their hands o more trophies.
