Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi left upset with club after blocked deadline day exit

Fulham face competition from Nottingham Forest and Everton for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Callum Hudson-Odoi furious with Chelsea after they blocked exit

According to the Daily Star, Callum Hudson-Odoi is furious with Chelsea for blocking his exit on deadline day. The starlet was the subject of a late loan offer from German giants Borussia Dortmund and they would have had the option to sign him permanently for £70million. However, he was not allowed to leave.

It has been a frustrating couple of seasons for Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea. There were high hopes from him after he burst onto the scene under Maurizio Sarri. However, he has failed to translate those initial performances into consistency due to several factors such as managerial changes and tactical switches.

With game time hard to come by under Thomas Tuchel, there was a chance he could leave over the summer. It seems Dortmund came in late with a loan offer for the youngster. They also included the option to buy for £70million. Even Leicester City showed some level of interest. However, Chelsea refused to let him leave and that has apparently left a sour taste in the player’s mouth.

He is said to be upset at the club for blocking his exit. There are reasons obviously as he is yet to feature for the club this season in any of the games. Dortmund had apparently promised him playing time in his favoured position. Thomas Tuchel, on the other hand, wanted to keep him around due to the huge number of games to be played this season.

Hudson-Odoi had been linked with an exit previously as well with Bayern Munich after his services in 2019. Chelsea rebuffed their approaches back then as well. Both viewpoints are understandable and now only time will tell if the Blues were right in keeping him back at the club.
