“Right place to be”: Chelsea defensive ace drops a hint over signing a new contract with the club

Andreas Christensen drops hint over new Chelsea contract

Speaking to Ekstra Bladet (h/t Metro), Andreas Christensen hinted that a new contract at Chelsea could be on the cards when asked about it. There has been speculation over his future but he gave some vague hints that a new deal is in the works.

Andreas Christensen has not had it east at Chelsea. From emerging as a bright talent under Antonio Conte, he did not enjoy regular game time under the likes of Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard. It was only Thomas Tuchel who pushed him back into the mix and now is a stable of the three-man defence.

He has become a mature and calm presence at the back for the Blues as they started the new season. However, there is some degree of discomfort over his future at the club. His current deal runs out in less than a year and other clubs from abroad can approach the Danish defender from January itself.

Nonetheless, his latest comments should provide some relief on that subject. Currently, on international duty, he was asked a few questions at a press conference. Here’s what he had to say when asked about a potential new deal at Chelsea (h/t Metro).

“I know a lot is being said right now. I can not say too much, but I think it looks good. We have won the Champions League and the Super Cup. I am very happy to be at this club and feel Chelsea are the right place to be in England.”

It is imperative Chelsea get Christensen tied up to a new deal as soon as possible. At just 25, he has the potential to lead the backline for a number of years. He has shown that he can cut it at the highest of levels.
