Agent of Chelsea key midfield star drops Serie A return hint for the future

Agent hints Chelsea star Jorginho wants a return to Italy

According to Radio Bianconera (h/t Express), the agent of Jorginho has hinted that the player could leave Chelsea to return to Italy in the future. Joao Santos has spoken about his client’s dream to return to Italy one day possibly after the 2022 World Cup, raising speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge.

It would be an understatement that Jorginho has come leaps and bounds in the last three seasons. From looking unsuited to the Premier League, he has gone on to become one of the best in the league in his position. The last season capped off one of his best seasons with Chelsea winning the Champions League.

He followed it up with a EURO 2020 win with Italy and then the UEFA Super Cup as well. It was a fantastic moment for a player that has gradually gone on to establish himself at the heart of Chelsea’s midfield. However, there seem to be some grey clouds over his future at the club if his agent’s words were to be taken into account.

Jorginho had been previously linked with an exit back in 2019 but he went on to stay. Now, his agent has spoken about the midfielder’s desire to return to Italy one day, most likely after the World Cup.

“He has a contract with Chelsea until [June] 2023. Obviously, it would be a dream for him to return to Italy, hopefully after winning the World Cup. We’ll have to see what the market looks like in a couple of years and what the other situations are.”

While there is still time to figure the situation out, it should concern Chelsea just a bit. Jorginho is arguably the best in his position at the moment and a crucial part of the side under Thomas Tuchel. The Blues should look to keep him at the club for as long as possible.
