According to transfer news from Fabrizio Romano, West Ham and Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal for Kurt Zouma. An agreement worth €30m is close to being done and there is confidence from both clubs and the player as well. A few more details need to be ironed out and it will be finalized.
Chelsea were in an awkward spot with Zouma. After all, they wanted to offload him but were hitting a roadblock with his wage demands. West Ham seemed to be the keenest of all the club with Tottenham also showing some shades of interest but not really pushing ahead. (h/t The Athletic)
Those issues seemed to have been resolved as it seems. A transfer worth €30m is in the works and an agreement is soon to be reached. All the parties including the player are in tandem with this potential deal meaning that only a few details are left to be sorted out and then it can be finalized.
The sale would in turn allow Chelsea to turn their attention to Jules Kounde. Things should be set in motion as soon as Zouma joins West Ham and Chelsea receive funds. However, it is all a race against time as the transfer window ends in a week.
Zouma has served the club well and not many can point to anything he has done wrong. It’s just that Chelsea wants to refresh their options for the future and adding a younger option like Kounde does not arise that often.
