Romano confirms Chelsea readying €110m bid for Serie A superstar in hopes of Stamford Bridge reunion

Romelu Lukaku could stay at Inter Milan and not re-join Chelsea in 2023.

Transfer News: Chelsea still pushing for Romelu Lukaku

According to transfer news from reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are expected to push ahead with a deal for Romelu Lukaku. The striker is open to accepting personal terms provided Chelsea and Inter agree on a deal. The fee is expected to be more than €110m.

Chelsea are somewhat familiar with Lukaku. After all, they were the club that brought him to English shores from Belgium a decade back. However, things did not quite work out as the player was then shipped out on loan to West Brom and then Everton. He was finally sold in 2014. The striker built his reputation as one of the best young players at Everton and was snapped up by Manchester United.

However, it was at Inter Milan where Lukaku truly exploded. He was among the group of players that led Inter’s charge for the Serie A title as they wrangled it out of Juventus’ grasp. A decent campaign with Belgium in the Euros also helped. Now, Lukaku has been courted by Chelsea once again- a decade after they last signed him.

It might not be very straightforward this time though. His stock is at the highest and Inter would hate to lose him. Nonetheless, Fabrizio Romano issued some updates regarding the whole situation. Chelsea are said to be pushing for a deal as soon as possible. Lukaku will accept personal terms in the event a deal is agreed upon. The fee is expected to be north of the €110m mark.

Chelsea are not going after Lukaku without reason. Olivier Giroud was sold and Tammy Abraham does not feature that much for Tuchel. That leaves a misfiring Timo Werner as Chelsea’s only recognised striker.
